Training The Next Generation of Design
Designers Evelyn Benatar and Susan Morrow create a summer camp for the design minded.
Jun 05, 2012
The INTERIOR DESIGN CAMP NYC is an intensive, five-day, hands-on design program for both teens and adults. Campers will have exclusive opportunities to go behind the scenes to the two main trade buildings that are normally off-limits to the general public. The program will include in-depth interactions with some of the most highly influential interior designers, showroom personnel, magazine editors and members of the contributing trades that comprise the industry. All participants will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively and test out their design skills through daily projects and exercises.
INTERIOR DESIGN CAMP was created by New York-based Interior Designers Evelyn Benatar and Susan Morrow. Evelyn Benatar is a graduate of The New York School of Interior Design and The Fashion Institute of Technology. She is known for an uncompromising ability to create rooms that are imbued with elegance and originality. This year, Benatar was one of only 30 designers invited to join the prestigious Access to Design program at the New York Design Center. Susan Morrow holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Syracuse University, an M.A. in Education from New York University, and a New York City teaching license in High School Art. A published Interior Designer for many years, she has participated in several Mansions and Millionaires Designer Showcases. These two designers and design educators have worked together in the past and are premier names in the ndustry.
The Teen Program (for ages up to 19) will be run as an open classroom with one-on-one instruction to encourage individual development of style and overall understanding of the basic elements that make a room “work.” Be it your ideal bedroom or fantasy bathroom, teens will engage in and complete design projects in a safe mentoring environment.
