INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE'S HOSPITALITY DAY 2009
|
| |
On March 12th, the NYDC was abuzz from top to bottom with over 1,300 individuals in attendance for Hospitality Day 2009, “Check-In to 200 Lex.” The evening was co-hosted by the New York Design Center and Interior Design Magazine. The NYDC opened its doors to designers, architects and the hospitality industry with nearly 70 showrooms participating in the festivities, proving the NYDC is the New York’s top resource for Hospitality Design.
The evening included top hospitality industry professionals hosting conversations providing a wealth of insight and expertise on past and current projects. Cindy Allen, Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design, traveled throughout the building introducing the famed designers: Jeffrey Beers, Steven Charlton of Goodman Charlton, Randy Gerner of Gerner, Kronick + Valcarcel Architects, Jiun Ho and DB Kim.
The NYDC showrooms hosted programming of their own. The showroom’s noteworthy programs included designer conversations, new product features and hospitality project discussions. Designer Jamie Drake held a discussion in the Michael Tavano showroom on his use of color in the bedroom suite, dining and lounge spaces. The Kasthall showroom welcomed designer Christina Romann who presented her recent project at the Turks and Caicos Sporting Club in the British West Indies. Participating showrooms used their resources to create pertinent visuals, whether it was displaying products previously used in well-known hospitality projects, as seen in the HBF showroom, or transforming their space into a simulated hotel, like Space 1111.
“The NYDC is thrilled to welcome the hospitality industry to the building; there is an abundance of product available here ideal for any and all hospitality projects, making the NYDC a complete resource for hospitality design,” said James Druckman, President and CEO of the New York Design Center. “As always, it is a pleasure partnering with Interior Design Magazine for this successful building-wide event.”
Attendees left the building with full stomachs and ample insight from renowned speakers, showroom product and all the hospitality resources available at the NYDC. A 12-page guide showcasing the evening’s line-up and the industries top hospitality products, all found at the NYDC, served as a great resource and informational take-away. The NYDC looks forward to hosting similar specialized building-wide events in the future.
