THE NEW YORK DESIGN CENTER HOSTS THE FOURTH ANNUAL
MASQUERADE BALL
A COSTUMED EVENING BENEFITING THE ALPHA WORKSHOPS
Jaw dropping costumes, popular tunes and delectable treats were a few of the highlights from the Fourth Annual Masquerade Ball, benefiting The Alpha Workshops. The transformed New York Design Center was the talk of the town on October 29th as hundreds of costumed guests were greeted in the lobby by a hand painted red carpet, mirrored chandeliers and a dazzling marquee.
The Alpha Workshops continued their remarkable decorations on the 11th floor, turning the NYDC into a 1930’s tinsel movie musical. The design community embraced the theme “C’mon Get Happy” and used their style to create unique costumes resulting in a magnificent array of color and sparkle. Baker Knapp & Tubbs showroom staff lit up the party as “Lights, Camera, Action”, designer Amy Lau and her staff brought spunk as energetic cheerleaders and Veeder + Perman tap danced their way through the event.
Guests crowded the dance floor as the highly anticipated DJ played an incredible mix of music. The make your own mac and cheese stations were a huge hit along with mini barrels of popcorn designed to make you feel like you were at the theater. If the music, dancing and food were not enough, there was the always-fun photo booth and an intriguing tarot card reader.
The Masquerade Ball always brings together the design industry for a fun filled evening while raising much needed funds for The Alpha Workshops. In addition to the industry’s top designers, architects, manufacturers and enthusiasts, the 2009 Masquerade Ball attracted attention from all of the shelter and lifestyle publications. Media Sponsors for the event included Architectural Digest, Array, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, New York Spaces and Traditional Home . Each magazine presented a “Best Costume” award to an attendee they deemed most worthy!
The New York Design Center would like to express gratitude to all of the sponsors and guests of the 2009 Masquerade Ball for making the event a huge success. The continued support over the past four years has helped raise over $250,000 for The Alpha Workshops.
