Flower magazine debuts its inaugural flower of the year program, naming the levante® rose anemone for its 2025 selection.

Boutique lifestyle magazine FLOWER names the Levante® Rosa Anemone as its 2025 Flower of the Year. The flower is recognized for its lush abundance of cheerful pink petals with a striking black eye, a hallmark of the anemone family.

The inaugural program is spearheaded by FLOWER magazine founder and editor-in-chief Margot Shaw, who gathered a panel of industry-leading experts from the fields of floral design, fashion, landscaping, and interior design to identify this year’s selection.

The panel of nine judges includes floral and event designer Lewis Miller, interior designer and philanthropist Charlotte Moss, floral and event designer Sybil Sylvester, interior designer James Farmer, landscape architect Ben Page, jewelry designer Mish Tworkowski, event planner Tara Guérard, interior designer Elaine GriVin, and horticulturist and host of The Flower Podcast, Scott Shepherd.

When considering this year’s selection, the panelists looked at its floral elements as they relate to growing, arranging, styling, and its ability to complement beautiful interiors like those that grace the pages of FLOWER.

“Exquisite and frothy as it is, the Levante Rosa is not just another pretty face—it’s hardy, prolific, and has a subtle fragrance,” says Margot Shaw. “Since the founding of FLOWER, we have looked at design through a botanical lens. The Flower of the Year program cements our belief that flowers should be celebrated. It provides designers and floral enthusiasts helpful guidance on how to incorporate this bloom in their arrangements and gives them a new selection to look forward to each year.”

Developed in the Riviera dei Fiori region of Italy by Biancheri Creazioni, a third-generation family business, the Levante® Rosa Anemone is known for its high number of petals. A bit of an unknown, although part of a very familiar and beloved family, this variety is cheery, elegant, a bit playful, and full of hope and optimism. When used in a cut floral arrangement, it works great alone and plays well with others. The March/April issue of FLOWER features the reveal, considerations from the esteemed panel of judges, and an abundance of beautiful arrangements using the Levante® Rosa Anemone.
