Hector Finch Harks Back to Their Traditional Roots with the Launch of their Neo-Classical Collection

This Autumn, the eponymous lighting brand Hector Finch launches 16 new products, adding to its collection with new designs and several extensions to much-loved pieces.

The new pieces embody strong classical design influences, while using traditional manufacturing techniques modernized for the demands of today. Harking back to Finch’s days as an antiques dealer in the 1980s, Emma and Hector Finch present these exciting new products that draw from the creative stimulus of design periods spanning some 250 years.

“With our roots in the antiques trade, we have always drawn on historical design styles and references to create the Hector Finch Collection. By refining and innovating each piece, our clients enjoy a contemporary take on classic design.

The latest additions to our collection follow suit. Recently we have observed an increase demand for the sophisticated, pared back grandeur of classical forms and techniques. It has been a pleasure this year to be inspired by motifs and forms from some of the greatest historical British lighting designers, including Osler, Faraday, and WAS Benson. We hope to ensure that the simple, yet sophisticated historical elements continue to stand the test of time and present products that have wide appeal due to their understated and elegant aesthetic.” Hector Finch, Founder and Design Director.

Selected Highlights include the Lincoln Lantern, with the second design created as part of a partnership with the Sir John Soane’s Museum in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. This handsome lantern hangs outside the entrance to the Museum, Soane’s former home, which holds many drawings and architectural models of his projects as well as paintings, sculptures, drawings and antiquities that he acquired over many years. The lantern has been sensitively modified for the Hector Finch Collection, and includes the anthemion scrolls which are derived from casts and models in the museum collection.

“During his lifetime Sir John Soane had a vision to stimulate debate and creativity through his collection. It is a pleasure for the Museum to work with Hector Finch as a lighting licensing partner again on this thoughtful response to the Soane Collection.” Will Gompertz, Deborah Loeb Brice Director, Sir John Soane’s Museum

“It is a delight to see the Neo-Classical design features of Sir John Soane’s work standing the test of time. As an interior designer myself, I can see the Lincoln Lantern has strong decorative and commercial appeal. Sympathetically reinvented for a modern audience, it has clear versatility for use in a range of period or modern settings.” Nina Campbell, OBE.
