Highlights From the First Annual Women in Design Month
The New York Design Center celebrated Women in Design throughout the month of March digitally and in-person, with a day of design and shopping on culminating March 13th. The inaugural Women in Design showcased incredible women that make 200 Lex so special and lead our industry.
The daylong event showcased the many female-owned, designed and influenced showrooms in the building, inviting attendees to shop the participating “Women in Design” showrooms, followed by an afternoon of curated programming exploring the impact of women in design through insightful panels with industry trailblazers. Participants included NeKeia McSwain, June Reese, Keita Turner, Alvin Wayne, Jill Cohen, Kesha Franklin, Young Huh, Amy Meier, Dara Caponigro, Sarah Medford, Julia Noran, Gale Singer, Melanie Dunea, Brittany Hart, Erica Samuels and Jacqueline Terrebonne.
In conjunction with the event, The New York Design Center introduced a series of “Women in Design” dedicated newsletters and over 40 compelling editorial features spotlighting female-centric stories that delve deeper into the achievements and contributions of the women at 200 Lex.
Overall, the event was a testament to the strength, creativity, and innovation of women in the design industry. By honoring participating showrooms, facilitating engaging panel discussions, and fostering collaborative interactions, the event not only celebrated the achievements of women in design but also inspired future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity and excellence.
