Remembering Amy Lau
This week’s newsletter pays tribute to our friend, Amy Lau. Together with the entire design community, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Amy Lau, an integral part of the 200 Lex family for as long as we can remember. We join in honoring her memory.
Amy Lau was a fixture at 200 Lex. As a client, she shopped in our showrooms constantly. Amy believed in 200 Lex and often introduced us to companies that would eventually open spaces in the building. In 2024, we were thrilled when Amy opened The Amy Lau Design Studio/Gallery creating an official place for her at 200 Lex.
We will always be grateful to Amy for her support—she was our biggest cheerleader! One year she attended our Masquerade Ball benefitting the Alpha Workshops dressed as an actual cheerleader.
Over the years, Amy was a staple at What’s New What’s Next. As a speaker, she offered her unique and thoughtful perspective on design and art and was always one of our most sought-after participants. If Amy was on a panel, you knew it would be standing-room only.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amy Lau, her talent, passion, and dedication to the art of interiors have left an indelible mark on our community. Our President, Jim Druckman, shared, “Amy was everything a person should be: kind, generous, gifted, professional and beautiful, both inside and out. But above all, she was a good friend with an open heart. Everyone I know who knew Amy is so sad and will miss her.”
Amy’s work was vibrant and creative- just like her. Her presence will be missed, but her contributions to our industry and 200 Lex will be cherished and remembered always. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and the wider design community, we have lost one of our most remarkable talents.
