Abstract artist Liane Ricci announces the launch of two new wallpaper collections. Beautifully conceived, expressed and thoughtfully printed, the Bosco and Plank collections are designed to create transformative design experiences. No less.

Liane Ricci explains, “The first thing I consider in my art practice is the feeling a person might have while interacting with the work. I think of art as a living thing, and I like to blur the line between fine art and interior design. I want to create the experience of existing within the work of art. That’s exciting. With these new wallcovering collections, Bosco and Plank, the woods are my muse, and the immersive quality is very playful.”

BOSCO

A walk deep into the woods outside Ricci’s North Carolina studio first sparked the inspiration for Bosco, which is the Italian word for a wooded area. This dramatic silk muralpaper may be scaled to fit various heights. In this way, the full drama of the design is retained. Enter a room papered in Bosco and you are in the woods.

Ricci notes, “I’ve previewed Bosco with several designers, and they love the scale and drama. I do too.” Bosco is offered in a choice of two colorways, Azure and Umber. In Azure, blue trees frame the abstract landscape of yellow-green hues, while the Umber palette has a sepia noir tone with indigo undertones. Floating throughout the trees are delicate highlighted polka-dots adding subtle whimsy.

The paper features a thin layer of real silk that is adhered to a metallic paper ground. It’s printed digitally using UV Gel technology. Ricci concludes, “Bosco has evolved beautifully from original art to muralpaper. I want it to empower designers to transform a space, to create an experience.”

PLANK

As an abstract painter, Ricci naturally sees pattern and then seeks to break it down. Plank is inspired by the natural, irregular and often jagged patterns of plywood sheets. It’s modern and graphic yet rooted in nature. Layering fluid lines and a bark-like texture, Ricci first brought Plank into the world as series of sketches and paintings. The design evolved organically.

“This muralpaper design is new but it’s been with me for a long time, all the way back to my art school days,” Ricci explains. “As student, I remember seeing plywood in modern design and becoming mesmerized. Those organic lines still draw me in. I decided to print Plank on a smooth, matte commercial-grade paper. It’s wonderfully practical but with a suede-like touch. Plank speaks to that form-and-function balance so important to designers.

Plank is available in a palette of eight colorways: Moonlight, Silver, Aubergine, Tea Rose, Timberwolf, Vista, Peacock and Pinewood.
