The Benjamin Moore Boardroom at Madison Square Garden Designed by Sasha Bikoff
In celebration of our renewed and expanded partnership with Madison Square Garden, which began in 2021, Benjamin Moore set out to develop a space that ushered in a new era of design in the storied venue—one that reflects the style and sophistication of the guests the space hosts.
Together with Madison Square Garden—renowned for its legendary history and vibrant energy—Benjamin Moore enlisted the exceptional talents of native New Yorker, lifelong patron, and highly acclaimed interior designer Sasha Bikoff. Bikoff and her team created a hospitality lounge that seamlessly blends bold design with timeless style.
The Benjamin Moore Boardroom, an exclusive VIP space in Madison Square Garden, showcases a masterful blend of luxurious materials, bold colors, and sophisticated details, all anchored by the transformative power of our paint.
Celebrated for her daring use of color and fearless creativity, Bikoff had a vision for The Benjamin Moore Boardroom project that was perfectly suited to the high-energy environment of Madison Square Garden. “This was a VIP space inside The World’s Most Famous Arena, so the design needed to reflect that,” says Bikoff.
Her approach centered on creating a space that would make a lasting impression, much like the unforgettable moments at a concert or sporting event. “We wanted the space to create memories, just like the arena does,” she explains.
Drawing inspiration from European design elements of the ’60s and ’70s, the lounge features plush carpeting, curved banquettes, and swivel tub chairs, creating a retro-chic yet timeless aesthetic. The speakeasy-inspired private club infuses the design with a distinctly New York character, serving as a hidden jewel box within the bustling arena.
For Bikoff, working on a legendary space such as Madison Square Garden, a venue she grew up visiting, was a unique opportunity to create something that would resonate with the millions of fans and lovers of sports, music, design and more that visit the arena each year. “This design isn’t just for a private home; it’s a place many can experience,” she notes.
The result is a bold, beautiful, and timeless space that’s as much about the energy of New York City as it is about creating a lasting memory.
“I wanted this room to be festive, glamorous, and iconic,” says Bikoff. And with every inch of the space designed to evoke celebration, The Benjamin Moore Boardroom delivers just that.
For Bikoff, the color inspiration for the design was clear from the start. “Red is the color of celebration, and it’s deeply tied to both Benjamin Moore and the New York Rangers,” she says. The decision to center the design around a spectrum of reds—from vibrant neon tones to rich raspberry truffle—was an intuitive choice that would shape every corner of The Benjamin Moore Boardroom.
Bikoff selected three varying shades of red featured in the lounge—Classic Burgundy HC-182, Raspberry Truffle 2080-10, and Neon Red 2087-10.
The resulting design reflects the warmth, coziness, and richness that Bikoff wanted to evoke. “This room needed to feel alive, just like the city itself,” she explains. New York’s energy, its vibrant lights, and the hustle of its streets all fed into her decision to choose red, a hue that radiates life and joy, in line with the city’s dynamic spirit.
One of the standout features of The Benjamin Moore Boardroom is the use of high-gloss paint, a choice that allowed the colors to truly shine. “When you use a high-gloss finish, the color just pops,” says Bikoff. The deep red tones on the walls and ceilings, paired with neon red accents, bring an element of vibrancy and luxury to the space, creating a feeling of warmth and depth.
“We knew we wanted the paint to be the star,” she says. And with the unparalleled quality of Benjamin Moore’s Advance Interior/Exterior paint, the design came to life in ways that exceeded expectations. “The finish is so rich, it almost feels like candy,” Bikoff adds.
The design was not only about color but also about the seamless interplay of materials. Working alongside Benjamin Moore, Cosentino, and Visual Comfort & Co., Bikoff created a design that effortlessly integrates color, surfaces, and lighting. Visual Comfort’s lighting played a pivotal role in elevating the space.
“We are pleased to contribute to a project that beautifully blends heritage and modernity. Partnering with Benjamin Moore and a visionary designer to illuminate this space allows us to showcase the timeless elegance and craftsmanship our lighting embodies.” says Gale Singer, Direct Division Founder, Visual Comfort & Co.
Illuminating the room are the statement-making Shanti Double Large Pendants by Sean Lavin, creating a warm, radiant glow throughout the space. Adorning the bistro tables are the Doppia Accent Rechargeable Table Lamps. The bars and bistro tables throughout the Boardroom feature Cosentino’s Silestone Le Chic in Château Brown, a subtle marbled look on an elegant brown background, filled with light and reflections thanks to its coppery pink and bronze metallic veins.
With the collaboration of such esteemed brands, each element of The Benjamin Moore Boardroom reflects an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and artistry.
