The Rug Company Introduces Tidal Silks by Helen Amy Murray
Undoubtedly luxurious, each design is handwoven in a single neutral hue, in silk and then meticulously hand-carved to translate the structural designs into an equally thoughtful rug.
Introducing Tidal Silks, a collection of four new rugs designed by artist Helen Amy Murray for The Rug Company.
Helen Amy Murray is an artist and designer, recognized for her delicate and complex handcrafted pieces that experiment with sculpting techniques and luxurious materials. Since founding her eponymous brand in 2002, Murray has honed her unique aesthetic and translated it across a variety of forms, including installation artworks, furniture, superyachts and private residences.
Like much of Murray’s work, this collection takes inspiration from the geometry, pattern and repetition in nature. Undoubtedly luxurious, each design is handwoven in a single neutral hue, in silk and then meticulously hand-carved to translate the structural designs into an equally thoughtful rug.
Characterized by its sense of fluidity, Shoal is inspired by the interaction of natural elements. Available in two colorways, Mist and Sand, both feature a subtle organic motif that glides down the face of the rug. Each soft parallel line has been carefully hand-carved to emphasize the appearance of movement.
Scales explores the four classical elements, drawing inspiration from fish scales, cloud formation, and condensation. The small, scalloped motif has been delicately hand-carved to appear organically formed, however, each elegant curve has been thoughtfully placed to draw the eye towards the markings.
All the designs in this collection have been woven by The Rug Company’s expert craftspeople using the finest silk. Visit The Rug Company on the 15th Floor of 200 Lex to explore the collection.
