The SCANDI Collection by Jennifer Manners Modern Carpets
Designed in-house by Creative Director, Jennifer Manners, SCANDI blends traditional craftsmanship with Swedish, Danish and Nordic vernacular design sensibilities using traditional hand-knotted and handwoven rug techniques.
Jennifer’s latest collection, which includes five considered design choices, showcases her signature ability to play with color and texture while embracing the essence of Scandinavian folk art with its vibrant and symbolic designs. A perfect blend of geometric patterns, natural textures and folklore -key characteristics of Scandinavian craft -each piece in the collection is a work of art in its own right.
There are five pieces in this collection, each with its own unique design:
●STOCKHOLM- Taking inspiration from nature motifs and geometric patterns typical of hand-painted decorative arts from Sweden, STOCKHOLM is realised in a high-density weave for a slightly more formal flat-woven rug.
●TULPAN- Celebrating the beloved flower of Sweden, TULPAN (tulip in Swedish) expresses a symmetrically arranged bouquet of tulips in fresh, modern colors and rendered in a classic flat woven style.
●OSLO- Inspired by the cozy and classic Norwegian fishing sweaters, our OSLO rug iswoven to look like a rugged and natural knit but hard-wearing enough to withstand the most rugged of lifestyles.
●COPENHAGEN- Folk art in Denmark is closely associated with the concept of hygge -a tradition of comfort, cosiness and warmth that is uniquely Danish. Color, textures and hand-craft are typical flourishes, all of which are employed on the COPENHAGEN rug.
●SVAGGA- Taking inspiration from decorative swag garlands strewn across doors and windows throughout Scandinavia as a way to bring nature inside the home, the SVAGGA rug celebrates symmetry and whimsy with a fruit-and-fir trellis rendered in a classic Turkish knot rug.
