Schumacher Presents Tina Shaw Curated by Eleanor Edelman
Every decorator knows that a room is never complete without great art. In Schumacher’s new showroom (suite 1516) artist Tina Shaw’s radiant resin pieces are currently on view, adding a captivating grace note to interiors beautifully designed by David Frazier and showcasing another side of the venerable American design house’s portfolio, including a contemporary edit of luxurious solids, sensual textures, refined wallcoverings, and masterfully crafted rugs.
Tina Shaw’s latest exhibition is currently on view through mid-July. This show highlights Shaw’s resin-based works, which explore the nature of surface itself, reflecting light, space, and the environment in a dynamic interplay that transforms with each viewer’s perspective. The artist first builds up the canvas, creating a three-dimensional structure upon which she then applies layers of colored resin — giving the work a dynamic and lustrous surface.
The works are an invitation to engage with the reflective qualities of Shaw’s materials, where the surface isn’t just a backdrop, but an active participant in shaping the experience. The resin’s reflective sheen creates an ever-changing visual dialogue between the art and its surroundings.
Stop in and see this curated exhibition as well as the new Shumacher showroom.
