Voutsa x Brandon Maxwell
Textile designer George Venson of Voutsa has teamed up with fellow Texan Brandon Maxwell to create a collection of women’s clothing for Resort 2022. Bringing the wall to the wardrobe, Maxwell drew from Voutsa’s archives and commissioned prints to design a clothing and accessory line consisting of 11 bold prints.
Featuring Voutsa’s signature florals, tromp l’oeil Audrey dots, the brand’s iconic “lips on red wallpaper” print, oversized butterflies, sleek leopard spots and so much more, the collection, “A Season for Wallflowers,” splashes a mismash of prints, patterns, and textures across Brandon Maxwell’s signature silhouettes. The daring prints extend to the collection’s accessories too, with pumps, scarves, belts, handbags and knee-high boots in animal stripes and florals.
“Initially, I thought this kind of collaboration would be a big step outside my comfort zone but as I went through the process, I realized that the collection was ultimately a reflection of my sanctuary. The interior spaces I love spending time in are wild: saturated with prints, colors, and textures,” Maxwell said, in a press release. “I used this collection as a framework for revisiting ideas of comfort and luxury while upending the signatures people have come to expect. The result is structured and refined but with a new layer of complication and play.”
“Brandon truly has been a source of inspiration for me and my line for some time. Working with him has always been a dream of mine, so when he reached out to use Voutsa’s prints in this collection, I exploded with excitement,” says George Venson, founder and creative director of Voutsa. “We are all so grateful for his vision and his team, and their tirelessness putting this project together. I cannot wait to see women wearing these clothes—they are stunning and magical!”
The collection lookbook stars Lara Stone and Jourdan Dunn in a dreamy, London-set shoot photographed by Venetia Scott, with all the eye-catching Voutsa prints popping against similarly inspiring interiors and idyllic garden settings.
The collection will be shown at New York Fashion Week in September and is available for pre-order via Brandon Maxwell. Visit voutsa.com to learn more.
