Access to Design™ Designer Spotlight: Sara Bengur
Designer Sara Bengur, part of 200 Lex’s Access to Design™ program, recently designed a downtown Miami pied-a-tierre for a New York art-loving couple. The project, as published in both Architectural Digest Spain and Galerie, captures the essence of the Mediterranean with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer spectacular views of the sea.
As Sara embarked on the design of the new home, she was inspired most by the homeowner’s art collection: “I was inspired by the art my client collected specifically for this apartment. It was so much fun creating a space that highlights the [art] collection as the main element of the project. The white floors, walls and ceilings are the perfect backdrop for the colorful works, furniture and textiles.”
Built as a summer home for the clients to escape the bitter New York winter, Sara also worked to create a space that felt like a vacation. “[My clients] like to go to France, Spain and Italy every summer, so I was inspired by the Mediterranean color palette. It was something natural for me as I grew up in Turkey and spent a lot of time on the coast and in Southern Europe.”
“This apartment is a sophisticated and peaceful oasis in the sky that envelops my clients with style and warmth,” concludes the interior designer.
