Edelweiss Pianos has landed in New York!
British brand, Edelweiss Pianos has officially arrived in the U.S., opening its first international showroom on the 10th floor in The Gallery at 200 Lex, inside the New York Design Center. Famous for their unique and creative designs and for crafting one of the world’s smallest pianos – Edelweiss Pianos is excited to bring the Best of British to New York!
The History of Edelweiss
Founded in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 1975 by Roy Norman – a Cambridge University Research Physicist – Edelweiss Pianos began as a piano shop and restorer under the name of 1066 Pianos. Over the next 30 years, nearly every brand of piano in the world was restored in their British workshops. It was with this knowledge, experience and history of piano restoration that enabled them to uncover the DNA of what creates the world’s finest pianos.
In 2008, Edelweiss Pianos was born as a Piano Manufacturer – a transformative time for the brand as it’s known today. With notable moments and milestones since 2008, from product launches to creative collaborations, the family name is still the driving force behind the business with Mark – our Founder’s grandson – and Thomas, Danny and Silas Norman – our Founder’s great grandsons – still present in the current operation of Edelweiss today.
What makes Edelweiss unique from other piano brands?
The Best of British
Every Edelweiss is hand-built by British Craftsmen in our British Workshops which are owned by a British Family. Edelweiss is proud to be one of two British piano brands in existence today. The new S132 Piano models takes the Best of British to the next level with every part of this piano being sourced from within Britain, as well as being made in Britain.
The Art of Bespoke
Edelweiss has redefined the piano for the luxury home. Their customers can choose their level of bespoke customization when it comes to the design. Whether you would like to use their Piano Configurator to configure your own or walk through the design process with one of their experts, there are endless possibilities.
Making Small More Beautiful
Unlike traditional piano makers who prioritize size, Edelweiss redefines what’s possible in a smaller grand. With the new S132 Piano model and its meticulous craftsmanship and innovative design, they create pianos that are as stunning to hear as they are to behold – proving that true artistry lies in making small more beautiful.
Designed Exclusively for the Home Environment
While most piano makers strive to craft the finest grand pianos for concert halls and professional stages, every Edelweiss is designed to be the ultimate home performance grand piano – an instrument that not only delivers exceptional sound but enhances the space it sits in.
More Than Just a Beautiful Piece of Furniture
An Edelweiss Piano is undeniably a stunning piece of furniture, but their true passion lies in sharing the joy of live music. That’s why every Edelweiss Piano comes equipped with a self-play system. With the simple touch of a button on your iPad, your elegant piano transforms into an exquisite entertainment experience, delivering live performances from your favorite artists, right in the comfort of your home in front of your guests.
From Vision to Venue: Why New York?
Edelweiss Pianos opened their first flagship showroom in Harrods, London in 2017. Following further years of continued successes, it was time to venture overseas.
New York is known to be the city of dreams AND design. Given New York’s structure and architectural design of high-rises and small spaces, their leading S132 is a model that fights right into the city (literally). Easily transportable and able to fit into elevators to reach even the tallest penthouses, it made sense that New York was the next iconic location for Edelweiss to land.
The New York Design Center is New York’s marketplace for providing imaginative solutions to any design challenge – an ethos that seamlessly aligns with Edelweiss’ design approach – making it a natural place for them to find a second home.
