Pindler Advances Sustainability Goals with Full Conversion to PFAS-Free Fabrics
All fabrics across Pindler’s line—including performance, outdoor, and prints—now offer trusted durability without fluorocarbons.
Pindler is proud to announce a major milestone in sustainable textile innovation: since January 2025, all product lines across the company are now fully PFAS-free. This significant achievement follows a multi-year effort to eliminate fluorocarbon-based finishes from every fabric category and reflects Pindler’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and design excellence.
Designers shouldn’t have to choose between performance and sustainability,” says Sarah Williamson, Design Director at Pindler.
“We’ve made it a priority to source fabrics that are just as durable, cleanable, and beautiful—without the environmental tradeoffs of traditional PFAS chemistry.”
Since 2022, Pindler has worked closely with mill partners around the globe to transition fabrics in this category to C0 chemistry, eliminating polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as fluorocarbons. These substances, commonly used to repel water and stains, have come under increasing scrutiny due to their long-lasting impact on human health and the environment during the production processes.
This transition culminates a journey that began in late 2021, with Pindler’s design team mandating that all new fabrics in the collection be produced using PFAS-free finishes. By the end of 2023, all mill partners had completed the conversion. As of January 2025, Pindler no longer stocks any C6-treated products.
The updated “Fluorocarbon-Free Easy Clean” and “Fluorocarbon-Free Soil & Stain” finishes offer the same high-performance durability, hand, and color vibrancy that designers expect. These finishes are based on innovative alternatives such as silicon, wax, or plant-derived compounds and are safe for use around children and pets.
Pindler remains at the forefront of responsible textile innovation and continues to set industry benchmarks for sustainability, safety, and design.
