Stylish Arrivals by Laura Gonzalez for Schumacher

The genesis of Gonzalez’s Schumacher collection: her world travels from India to Paris to New York. “This has been a truly global journey,” the Paris-based Gonzalez says, “and each design reflects a different stop along the way, blending memories, artistry, and local traditions—India’s florals and block prints, French elegance, and the energy of New York.” The lush color combinations and fanciful motifs in these new textiles and wallpapers cast a decidedly fresh light on more traditional stripes and florals. “Don’t be afraid of color or mixing patterns,” the designer insists.

Gonzalez’s Jaipur Fantaisie, a captivating woven floral with wonderful scrolling leaves and a luxe quilted effect, showcases her flair for rich colors and fanciful patterns. The medium-scale fabric, pictured with the designer above, is an ode to the beauty and romance of Indian palaces. To create Roman Reverie, Gonzalez drew inspiration from a treasured scarf her mother brought back from a trip to India. A true warp print, this beautifully crafted fabric features a pattern of wavy large-scale stripes that enlivens upholstery, pillows, or windows with marvelous rhythm and movement. “Paris lends structure, romance, and refinement,” adds the designer, whose work is equal parts spirited and sophisticated, eclectic and unmistakably chic. That duality is expressed perhaps most distinctly in Vagary Vines, a fabric and wallpaper adorned with delicate winding branches, blooms, and buds embellished with intricate embroidery.
