Longest Rug Ever Made: Jennifer Manners
Every Jennifer Manners rug is made entirely bespoke, making it a privilege to watch each design gradually come to life on the loom. Every project is unique, but every so often, one comes along that truly captures our imagination.
This extraordinary Antibes rug, created for a private residence in Connecticut, is one of those rare projects.
Handwoven entirely from fibres made through repurposed water bottles, it is believed to be one of the largest single-piece rugs ever produced. Measuring an impressive 131 feet long by 8 feet wide, the rug took months to weave by hand before being meticulously cut to a bespoke template that follows the gentle curve of the room.
Creating a piece of this scale required the skill and dedication of an entire team of artisans. From dyeing the yarn and preparing the loom to weaving, finishing and installation, every stage demanded exceptional craftsmanship and precision.
This week, the rug completed its remarkable journey—flown to the United States and expertly installed in its new home in the project of designer Katie Lydon @katielydoninteriors.
Projects like this are a testament to what is possible when traditional craftsmanship, innovative materials and ambitious design come together. We couldn’t be prouder of every artisan whose hands helped bring this exceptional piece to life.
