As part of “What’s New, What’s Next, the New York Design Center showrooms introduced over 100 new products.
We asked our esteemed group of 2021 WNWN Ambassadors what their favorite pieces were—here are their top 5 loved pieces. From accessories and furniture to lighting and wallpaper, this year’s picks showcase a wide variety of unique styles that designers from all over the country are recognizing as some of their favorites for the upcoming year.
Calder Side Table – Dennis Miller New York
“The sculptural, cast bronze Calder side table adds edge and modernity.” – Mara Miller & Jesse Carrier, Carrier & Company
“Dennis Miller showroom never disappoints, and this limited edition “Calder ” table is something I’d run to. I look for drink tables that make a statement. Aesthetically anchoring a chair or two, they are the tables that should delight the user at the end of a day, or during a quiet moment, and deliver a moment of delight, calm and reward. This table lives up to its potential: grounded, sculptural, secure but airy and just plain gorgeous- I love it.” – Kathleen Walsh, Kathleen Walsh Interiors
“I love the organic and sculptural nature of this table. It would be an elegant accent table in both a maximalist, eclectic design and sleek, minimalist space.” – Tammy Bolden, Bold Interior Design
” I love a unique piece, starts an interesting conversation, and tells a story…and the Calder Side Table does all of that. Originating from the idea of eroding geological landscapes, this piece will stand out against a sofa or chair beautifully.” – Rhonnika Clifton, RJ Clifton Designs
“I am always on the hunt for an interesting shelving unit that can hold pretty objects. Loving the Brisbane shelving unit from Verellen. The asymmetry of the piece makes it an interesting piece alone and then becomes the perfect way to display a client’s collection of art books, sculpture, ceramics… It is available in a variety of ash and walnut finishes which makes this unit adaptable to many aesthetics.” – Allison Babcock, Allison Babcock Design
Remnant Lounge Chair – Lepere
“The Remnant Lounge Chair’s sleek silhouette, clean lines, and modern vibes are right up my alley. I could absolutely see myself placing this stylish lounge chair in one of my projects! Its fun color would also add the perfect pop of drama in a space.” – Nina Magon, Contour Interior Design
“As a fresh take on accent seating, this molded foam lounge chair offers a sense of modernity with a retro flair. The open center base helps the chair feel light and airy while the draped channeled frame offers structure and stability. Love this as a fun accent piece.” – DuVäl Reynolds, DuVäl Design
“This chair is a modern classic – we’ve seen this shape before, yet it feels very “now”. It feels young and fresh while remaining sophisticated. The fabric shown here is also very on trend. I’m seeing lots of rusts, burnt oranges and dark caramels right now!”– Tina Ramchandani, Tina Ramchandani Creative
“We love the oversized shape of this chair. Its curves speak to the desire for geometrically varied shapes in a room. We use almost exclusively swivel chairs so that it lends itself to TV watching or conversations areas. The boucle fabric is the added texture every room needs.” – Miriam Silver Verga, Mimi & Hill Interiors
“Ah a huge comfy sweater in chair form. The modern lines are suitable for any room and the chair makes a statement all on its own.” – Joy Williams, Joyful Design, LLC.
Zarra Bed – Cliff Young Ltd
“This Zarra Bed is so inviting! I love an oversized bed, and the deep blue hue of the headboard and baseboard drew me in even more! There’s a perfect balance between the soft, velvety texture of the fabric and the strong profile of the furniture. Those contrasting elements make this bed an ideal statement piece.” – Breegan Jane, Breegan Jane
“Love at first sight.” – Beth Diana Smith, Beth Diana Smith Interior Design
“Love the low profile of this platform bed, but the profile of the headboard, rich color and the lushness of the fabric is what makes this one a “must have” for me!” – Arianne Bellizaire, Arianne Bellizaire Interiors
Medusa Wall Sconce – Julian Chichester
“The Medusa sconce is a literal example of this playful juxtaposition between loopy powder-coated metal and timeless gathered (but mismatched!) lampshades.” – Noz Nozawa, Noz Design
“I love everything about this sconce! It’s so playful, but not at all juvenile or overdone. The finishes are sumptuous (especially the red). And the mismatched shades are a fun idea to make it your own. I could see it above an oversized nightstand, flanking a fireplace, or commanding a wall on its own.” – Adnan Anwar, Adnan Anwar Design
“This wall sconce is so unusual and fun. I’ll use any excuse to use decorative lamp shades and with this sconce you get to use four! I’m a big fan of red as well.” – Lindsay MacRae, Lindsay MacRae Interiors, LLC.
“What’s not to love about lighting with multiple arms? The modern take of the red metal arms paired with the charming fabric shades is a winning combination.” – Swati Goorha, Swati Goorha Designs
Altamont Swivel Chair – Profiles
“What I love most about this chair is the swivel feature and the size. It’s not oversized, but it looks large enough to be a perfect cozy chair. Modern style furniture doesn’t have to lack comfortability.” – Kelly Collier-Clarke, Plot Twist Design, LLC.
“A swivel chair allows for so much functional flexibility within a space! I love this one by Grant Trick because of the generous scale paired with smooth curves that encourage curling up and getting cozy. Enough space for kids to pile on and read or for a sweet pup to join you while watching a movie.” – Ariella Duker, Ariella Duker Interiors
“It represents what I look for in design, which is unique form and texture. I tend to love interesting pieces that tell a story.” – Natalie Kraiem, Natalie Kraiem Interiors
