Recap of WNWN 2020 Week 2
Week two of What’s New What’s Next rolled off the energy of the first week with engaging showroom tours, a new partnership announcement with the Black Interior Designers Network, exciting panel discussions and more.
Week two left viewers intrigued and wanting more after the riveting discussions of what’s new in design, how other industries within the arts community relate to design and the connection between design, nature, and the great outdoors. Kicking off the week on Monday 9/14, viewers toured the Royal Botania showroom in an interactive tour, giving them the chance to walk through the doors from a virtual perspective. Following the virtual tour, Thom Filicia hosted an Instagram live entitled “House Calls with Thom Filicia” in which he answered all viewers latest questions about design and new product. Thom left viewers with some points of wisdom. In how we should invest our dollars in the home, Thom believes it is important “to have a good bed and sofa! They go much further and you do deserve it.” Kicking off Tuesday 9/15 Town and Country hosted a panel discussion entitled “Setting the Stage” to discuss the world of theater set design and interior design. Moderated by Stellene Volandes this panel featured Scott Pask, Clint Ramos and Leyden Lewis. Later in the day Global Views hosted an Instagram live with Ashley Childers to introduce her new collection with Global Views. On Wednesday, 9/16, the original event date of What’s New What’s Next, 200 Lex launched the 200 Lex Product Catalog featuring hundreds of new product introductions from over 50 different showrooms in the building. All available to view on our site here.
Throughout the day 200 Lex also co-hosted “Conversations in Design” with the Horticultural Society of New York and Chelsea Harbour Design Center in London. The panel was moderated by Steele Marcoux, editor-in-chief of Veranda Magazine in conversation with Sue Stuart-Smith, author of The Well Gardened-Mind: The Restorative Power of Nature and Tom Stuart-Smith, landscape architect. BIDN took over the NYDC instagram account to annouce their Master Class series as well as share some of their designers’ projects. We ended the day with a special and insightful conversation between famed design Alexa Hampton in conversation with Elle Décor’s new editor-in-chief Asad Syrkett. On Thursday, 9/17 Cosulich Interiors & Antiques hosted a live discussion with Cheban Interiors. Marina Cheban’s talent and upbeat personality was a pleasure to watch as she left us with insightful advice which was short and simple, “Don’t be afraid of trends and just go for it!” The day wrapped with Andre Jordan Hilton of Jordan Hilton Interiors taking over 200 Lex’s Cocktails & Conversation to discuss his latest work and what design means to him. On Friday we toasted to the end of the week with videos and design talks from Kasthall, Ngala Trading Co and Lobel Modern, wrapping up the week with the grand finale of the second iteration of 200 Lex’s Book Talk series.
