A “Garden in Time” at the Gallery at 200 Lex
In New York City, the first Monday in May means one thing- the Met Gala! It is undisputed fashion’s biggest night, and this year’s looks did not disappoint. “Garden of Time” was this year’s theme and we loved seeing all the different ways it was interpreted in all the fabulous looks that walked up those famous Met stairs.
To pay homage to the theme, we curated a collection of items from the Gallery at 200 Lex that fit the “Garden of Time” dress requirement.
The Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” will feature approximately 250 rare items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more. Some garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again—such as a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877—will also be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation. It is on display through September 2.
