Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Celebrates “Iconic Rooms: Kips Bay New York Decorator Show House at 50”
The Kips Bay Decorator Show House, the nation’s premier design event, which benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, will celebrate the 50th edition of its famed New York Show House this year with the release of “Iconic Rooms: Kips Bay New York Decorator Show House at 50” (May 13th, Gibbs Smith, $75), a book that celebrates the stories, problem solving, purposeful design and stunning beauty created in each Kips Bay Decorator New York Show House. The search for a location for the 50th edition of the Show House, which will be held this fall, is underway.
Over the past five decades, the highly anticipated New York Decorator Show House has grown into a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts. Every year, the country’s most celebrated interior designers transform a luxury Manhattan townhouse into an elegant exhibition of extraordinary designs with fine furnishings, art, and technology. The event has become the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club’s top fundraiser, raising critical funds for much needed after-school and enrichment programs for children living in The Bronx, New York.
To mark the anniversary, Kips Bay New York has created a very special book that includes 175 images of iconic Show House rooms selected from the past 50 years, recognizing the incredible work of its design community, and the impact the Show House has had in transforming spaces and lives.
On Wednesday, April 30th, the new Made Goods and Burton James showroom hosted a soiree to celebrate the upcoming release of the book, attended by many past Showhouse designers.
