Shop the Look from Live on 5, 2018

Eight showrooms from the fifth floor came together last week to host Live on 5 at 200 Lex’s Shop the Look event, a celebration of design.

Each showroom chose a designer to curate a themed vignette with products from all showrooms on the 5th floor. Each showroom displayed their chosen designer’s mood boards and designers picks throughout the showrooms. The themed vignettes highlighted innovation and collaboration within the community at the New York Design Center.

View the digital vignette gallery and stop by the fifth floor to see the products in person.

"Getting it Right! When asked to participate in Live on Five, I wanted to create an interesting, warm, modern and inviting lobby vignette that pulled from all of the showrooms and their collection of merchandise for a mix of what most might consider a truly diverse and eclectic array of furnishings. There is no wrong in getting it right!” -Bonnie Steves

Cliff-Young

"I was inspired by the sophisticated and modern products offered on the fifth floor. The luxurious aubergine velvet sofa at Cliff Young set the stage for the living room, and I visualized raw cut amethyst, then built my designs from there. A gem-encrusted vintage pair of lamps from Cosulich frames the sofa....I created a sophisticated, expansive living room overlooking the homeowner's courthouse and swimming pool-- it's California cool meets chic, yet cozy urban oasis with clean-lined furniture and a layered yet edited oasis on a tree-lined street." -Tamara Matthews-Stephenson

Cosulich

"For this vignette, I imagine myself working on a small but precious sitting room space. It is always such a pleasure selecting from the many great showrooms on the 5th floor, there are always so many great selections to choose from. I was very honored to be selected by Cosulich interiors to participate as their designer of choice to "shop the look" for this event as their mid-century modern style and pieces are uniquely calibrated and aligned with my personal sense of style.” -Garrow Kedigian

Currey & Co

Rajni Alex "Rajni Alex is honored to collaborate with Currey & Company in designing a virtual vignette. Taking advantage of the great product lines available on the 5th Floor at 200 Lex, Rajni Alex Design created a dining room that exudes drama. Each and every piece curated from these different showrooms adds to the sophistication of the space, setting the mood for a luxurious dining experience.” -Rajni Alex

Theodore Alexander

"We wanted to create a vignette set in a living space that feels luxurious without being too formal. While we sought a clean aesthetic fitting for a city apartment, it was important for us to layer in some sculptural and unique pieces so it would feel cool yet also collected. We loved incorporating brass details and furnishings which was a thread we saw running through every showroom and helped unify the design. We love an opportunity to create strong contrast and visual interest. We selected a neutral and light backdrop which allowed us to include pops of dark charcoal and black into the design to achieve this look." -A-List Interiors

Tucker Robbins

"I am thrilled to be working on this event with Tucker Robbins. He and I have been friends for many years and share our love of cultures, color, exoticism and healing spaces. My inspiration for this vignette was to create something whimsical and light, a sanctuary. Our spaces should restore us and nurture us. This vignette is a peak into the magic that can be created through color and combinations of beautiful objects and art. I think the event is a great way for designers to get to know other showrooms and appreciate the wealth and variety of designs available to them.” -Sara Bengur

Giorgio

"As a designer and an artist, I welcome any chance to freely express my creativity, and having been able to choose from so many fabulous pieces in each showroom to create my vignette was truly a dream! As in much of my work, my vignette was very much inspired by my adoration of vintage furniture and decorative arts. Conceptually, the Live on Five event not only presented a fun challenge for me, it also was a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a collective design effort." -Jenny Dina Kirschner

Metropolitan Lighting

"I knew right away I wanted to do a dressing room. My inspiration was an eclectic yet glamorous room belonging to a woman who is feminine and global. I mixed pieces that have a vintage feel from the 30, 70's and 80's with the carpet which is an exotic export. Whilst everything is in fact contemporary each piece feels like they could be from another era and geographic location." -Sasha Bikoff
