Paving the Way with Catherine Connolly, Director of Merida Studio
This week, for our “Women In Design: Paving the Way” video series, we sat down in The Merida showroom (suite 500) with their Creative Director, Catherine Connolly. Based in Fall River MA, Merida Studio is an artist workshop and residency specializing in textile art. Founded on the principles of savoir-faire, the studio collaborates with contemporary artists to create unique, site-specific works. Merida Studio strives to extend the chain of textile art and its rich history.
Catherine Connolly is dedicated to uplifting textile art. In 2017, she made the decision to transform a family rug business in Fall River, MA, into a contemporary artist workshop, Merida Studio. As the director, she seeks to create the space for the artists and craftspeople at Merida to find meaning and beauty in their work. By focusing on textile art, the studio explores ideas that transcend time and provides works that will be treasured for generations.
