R HUGHES Opens New Showroom Featuring Rose Uniacke Partnership
Atlanta-based R HUGHES visionaries and tastemakers Ryan Hughes and Steven Leonard are bringing their curated, fashion-forward design mix to the New York Design Center, opening a 7,000-square-foot showroom just in time for WNWN on September 19th.
The New York Design Center is thrilled R Huges is making its debut into the Northeast design market along with Rose Uniacke at 200 Lex! Rose Uniacke , the acclaimed UK-based designer, whose brand’s timeless and refined fabrics, lighting, and furniture will have a fully branded, immersive space within the R HUGHES showroom. “When seeking out showroom partners, we always seek designers with a distinct point of view and brand,” says Hughes. “The Rose Uniacke collections of fabrics, furniture and lighting are an excellent personification of Rose’s traditional yet fresh perspective. That balance is rare to strike.”
And the feeling is mutual, with Rose Uniacke making its Northeast debut as well. “We feel very fortunate to be partnering with such a respected design authority as R HUGHES as we so clearly share a similar approach to design,” says Rose Uniacke’s Development Director Melissa Corfield. “We look forward to introducing the Rose Uniacke world at the New York Design Center.”
R HUGHES represents a myriad of contemporary yet classic designs from a multitude of brands. Together with the exquisite collections from Rose Uniacke, R HUGHES New York promises to be a hub of creativity and inspiration. For more information, contact Dalton@r-hughes.com.
We asked Ryan Hughes to share insight on why New York, why now, and what you can expect to find in the new showroom. Come see the space in person on September 19th when we celebrate the grand opening alongside WNWN, and check out our lineup of programming here!
What led you to open the showroom in New York? Why is it a good time, and why 200 Lex?
“Opening a showroom wasn’t even on our radar. Refractory initially approached us as they couldn’t find the right showroom fit in New York. This then led to conversations with other designers and industry friends to understand that there was a big opportunity for R HUGHES in New York. There is never quite a time like the present and Jim Druckman’s enthusiasm and dedication to the design community made the 200 Lex a no-brainer for us—it just felt like our second home.”
In addition to the Rose Uniacke partnership, what are some highlights that interior designers can look forward to experiencing in the showroom?
“We are thrilled to show quite a few brands and products for the first time ever in New York. We are showing almost the entire Refractory collection, including their latest pieces and some with new material offerings like cast mineral.
“COUP STUDIO is a collection we have represented since 2010 in Atlanta, and they are thrilled to bring so many of their classics and new pieces to New York. I’m excited to have the Infinite Butterfly Mirror in New York, which is a collaboration between artist Jocelyn Marsh and COUP STUDIO. Her artwork is mesmerizing, to say the least.
“Additionally, we now have the opportunity to showcase many more Christopher Boots and Hallworth lighting pieces that we don’t showcase in Atlanta.”
What’s your inspiration for the design of this showroom, and how does it differ or compare to the space in Atlanta?
“We wanted the showroom to feel like a gallery but not be too minimal either. We achieved the warmth needed with the Board Form oak floors from Burchette and Burchette and the plaster walls by Kamp Studios.
“While we will have some of the same products, there will also be plenty of new offerings in New York to make a visit worthwhile for even southeastern designers.
“The space in New York has a bit more of an edited approach and quite a bit more natural light, but both spaces speak to our overall vision and brand.”
What’s your favorite thing about WNWN?
“I love the energy that WNWN brings to the building. It is a time for showrooms and designers to all connect.”
